Taj Mahal vs. Tropicana
Does anyone have any suggestions on which hotel would be better to stay at for 2 nights. My bf and i are just going to get away for a bit, we are not big gamblers, both in mid 20's. We are going for sun-tuesday.

First I thought I had no idea there was a Taj Mahal in Vegas, and that the room we had in Vegas at the Tropicana was neither purple nor busy, though it was dated and a bit run down.
Then, a quick web search pointed out the error in my thinking.
You must mean Atlantic City, right? Just checking, since you didn't say . . .

It all depends which tower of the Trop you get into. A couple of them are old and run down, a couple (like the one I stayed in) are new, very attractive, and have great ocean views. Also the Trop has just opened a big new dining an entertainment area. If you are guaranteed one of the new towers, I'd definitely choose the Trop of the two. But I've forgotten the names of the new towers and old towers. Read the user reviews of the hotel in Tripadvisor.com, some of which will be very good and some very bad--I'm sure you'll learn which towers to insist on and which to avoid by reading them.

The Quarters in the Tropicana is AC's newest hip place. I would definately pick the Trop to stay at.
I am in my early 30's and trust me when I say go there and NOT the Taj. The Trop has a younger atmosphere since the Quarters opened.
Also try to make it over to the Borgata.

suzanne, I was at tripadvisor.com for another reason, so I checked on the names of the towers to ask for and avoid at the Trop, as I recommended that you do. The ones to ask for are the Havana and West towers. (I stayed in the West tower, I now remember, and it was new and fine. The Havana Tower has just been opened to go along with the Quarter, which is discussed by another poster above, and which everyone at Tripadvisor who has been there since it opened seemed to like a lot.) I would not let them put you in any other towers (I think there are at least two other named towers.) From the comments at Tripadvisor, the North tower is especially to be avoided.
