VEGAS hotel: Venezia Tower or The Old Venetian?

Hi! Has anyone been to The Venetian recently? I will be staying there soon. Should I book a room in the New Venezia Tower or the Old Venetian? I've read horror stories about mold, dirty, worn furnishings. I'm hoping that the New Venezia Tower would be cleaner. But am worried about the long walk to the main entrance/casino. THANKS!

I read from another thread that the walk from Venezia Tower to the casino is LONG, but the walk to the front entrance (out to the strip) is CONVENIENT. Is that true? Thanks in advance!

I stayed in the Venezia Towers last year, when the place had only be open 10 days. As the rooms were so new, they were just gorgeous! I loved them! I thought it was great bypassing the long lines at the front check-in, going into a side elevator and checking in at a beautiful, quiet desk. It is very convenient to the front of the hotel, probably a longer walk to the casino and canals. I didn't mind it all, but I know some have complained about this. I look at it as a little exercise in beautiful surroundings !

We stayed last year at the old Venetian as the new one was being built. All I can say is, what mold? What dirt? What worn furnishings? Maybe they put us in a really great room, but we had a room -- no three rooms if you count the gigantic bathroom -- and I can't even count the number of t.v.'s we had -- that was so fabulous, so huge, so luxurious, so clean, I honestly didn't want to leave the room.

I've been in 5 star hotels in Europe, and nothing compared to the room we had.

I've never experienced mold or dirty /worn furniture in the Venetian rooms. They are quite nice. The rooms at Venezia Tower are newer, of course, and slightly nicer. They are no bigger than the rooms in the original tower but appear bigger because they have higher celings. The Venezia Tower is convenient to the front entrance/registration but is quite a hike to the casino.

Just stayed in the old tower last month as our friends got married at the Venetian. I have to say that our rooms were tired. I have stayed at the hotel a few times in the past and they aren't keeping them up. The bride and groom had the same exact room as we did and they were paying quite a bit to get married there.

After the wedding we all went to the new tower for pictures. Amazing! The pool area is lush and gorgeous, halls, lobbies, etc just beautiful. I would absolutely stay here!!!

As far as the walk to the casino goes:
1) it's the same as any other large casinos
2) even the staff will tell you not to gamble in the casino, it is the worst on the strip for taking your money. Really. We NEVER gamble at the Venetian!
