St.Petersburg/Clearwater/Ft.Lauderdale/Naples?

Help! Need your expertise on which place we should go for our Anniversary this year. Not sure which area has the best beaches/activities. Any thoughts?

I see that this is your first post here on Fodors so I will say welcome and hope that you find the information you seek. Your question has been discussed here at length many times and I am going to try to link some of the discussions here. There has been a bit more discussion here regarding Fort Lauderdale and Naples but there is a lot about the other two and we have some very active members that live in those areas.

Every area you have listed has lovely beaches as well as sophisticated restaurants and activities. I think the shopping is better in Naples and Ft. Lauderdale and that you would have to venture to Tampa for serious shopping if that is your pleasure.

After reading those, you can search for each city or area to read about specific things.

We'll help you find a great spot for your anniversary. LMF

Another welcome, now a pointer: if you don't include some spaces in your title, the left hand message frame is unable to "wrap" the title, hence you get an ultra-wide frame with a scroll bar. It's very annoying, so next time, put in a couple of spaces.

Thanks for the welcome and the other threads. Sounds like Florida is a popular topic. Has some nice areas. Just depends on your preference. From the posts seems like a lot of people enjoy Marco Island too. We were looking for someplace romantic, laid back, pretty, yet have some activities.
