Reasonable restaurants in/near Naples, esp. seafood

Will be in Naples, FL in mid April. We love trying out interesting restaurants. Prefer them to be less pretentious, more local. Any suggestions for restaurants or reviews. Also, any suggestions of where to go. We like everything but sports!

Have you done a search here yet? Enter Naples restaurants and you'll find some very long and detailed posts I've done as well as others, including some specifically about moderate to inexpensive ones. I don't really want to repeat all of that, but after reading the previous posts, feel free to come back and ask further quetions. I love talking about food in Naples.

Incidentally, one I probably haven't mentioned is The English Pub on Linwood -- just off the east trail. It's kind of hard to find. It's pretty much a classic English Pub, started by some Brits, but recently taken over by another Brit who happens to be a great caterer. He's doing really good things with the food there, and there isn't an ounce of pretense in the place (unless you count the pictures of the Queen looking down her nose at you from the wall).

Read and copied the extensive Naples, FL restaurant posts from Nov 2002. Any recomendations of newer or undiscovered restaurants since then would be appreciated.

must be a problem with Fodors search feature as Naples restaurants are discussed quite frequently here.

I suggest you just click on Patrick name and go through his Naples posts. He does most posting and you can try my name as well.

Local restaurants is sort of difficult in Naples. A lot of the population is transient (snow birds and regular vacationers) and so the restaurants primarily cater to them. LMF

I tried clicking on Patrick's name, but I didn't get a listing of his posts. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is. The left column says, User: Patrick, but then the posts are very generalized US topics. I'd love some help as I'm new to these boards. Have recently purchased a condo in Naples and would love to read Patrick's (and others') opinions.

I'm a little short on time right now or I'd go into a long detail. The trouble with searching my name is I make way too many posts on way too many subjects.
But I just typed in "Naples Restuarants", clicked "Florida" and got over 200 threads, 50 of them from the past year. You can look through them and see by the titles some about "inexpenisive" or "reasonable".

One new find for me -- out East off Davis in the King's Lake Shopping Center is Aldo's. Young couple from Naples, Italy are owners, and the food was amazing as well as reasonable (make that "cheap" by Naples standards). The veal dishes are particularly outstanding.

Friends are raving about a really laid back Mexican place called Cilantro Tamales which is on 41 North, right across from PF Changs (which if you aren't familiar with is an outstanding "chain" and a good choice for inexpensive).

If I get a chance, I'll post more. Trying to get ready to leave this Sunday for a three month trip -- so things are a little frantic here.

what type of food are you looking for? just about every cuisine has some special place. most of the less expensive, but excellent ones are off the beaten path, in malls, strip malls. what is your taste?
