September/ Baltimore's Inner Harbor

Hi, Is September a good time to visit Baltimore's Inner Harbor? Hotel recommendation for a reasonable, but central place to stay? What are the don't miss activities? Thank you!!! Sandy

Sandy, it might still be hot, but as long as you're not looking for cool weather, September is a fine time. Baltimore is a perfect city to use Priceline. Choose 4-star and Inner Harbor and you almost always get the waterfront Marriott. The one time I didn't, I got the equally nice Renaissance. I just paid $99 a night for a weekend in July at the Marriott.
If you don't know how to use Priceline, read www.betterbidding.com

The aquarium is very good, of course. I just took a segway tour that was fun. ( I think you can google 'segs in the city'). Away from the Inner Harbor, which is mainly shopping and restaurants and very touristy, the neighborhood of Fells Point is charming. You can walk there from the Marriott. Search on this site for Baltimore and you will get other good ideas.

I second Fells Point, incredible streets, fun bars, etc etc, the water taxi to and from inner harbor is great. Don't forget about Camden Yards, take in a game, it's the best park I've ever seen.

Definitely agree with Fells Point. I stayed at the Admiral Fell Inn and really enjoyed it. We did the Aquarium, Fort McHenry, Maritime Museum, and 2 Orioles games.

If you are a baseball fan, go when Orioles are in town and see a game. If you do not care about the sport, go when Orioles are out of town and hotels are often a little cheaper.

Hi Ms Go

I lived and had a painting studio in Fell's Point for some years back in the day and think it's difinitely worth a visit.

If you stop by Bertha's say hi to Tony and Laura for me!

Another good suggestion is to pay a visit to the American Museum of Visionary Art, which is on Federal Hill, adjacent to the Harbor

I love this place, and always make a point of going there when I'm in B'more.

If you are going to Inner Harbor in September, keep in mind that the Aquarium and the harbor attractions might be loaded with school trips. They are loud and you might have trouble getting to the exhibits because the kids press their faces against the glass. Try to go in an off time.
