Baltimore Inner Harbor hotels
We (husband and 7 year old daughter) are going to Baltimore for 2 mid-week nights in April. I'd like suggestions for convenient hotels in the inner harbor. We are kind of picky about where we stay. Nice rooms, nice ammenities etc... We plan on going to the aquarium, a baseball game and doing some walking around. Also- a suggestion for a good seafood restaurant that is not part of a chain. Something the locals like... Also, should we buy Orioles tickets in advance or can we get them at the gate. I know weather can be iffy and I'd like to wait until the last minute to decide. They are playing the White Sox... Thank you!

I've stayed at the Marriott, the Hyatt Regency and the Renaissance Harbor Place. All of them are in the Inner Harbor are and all were fine hotels. I think that the Renaissance is probably the nicest of the 3, but there isn't a big difference so I would go for the best deal. If you are at all daring, Baltimore is a great city for Priceline. You can specify 4-star hotel in Inner Harbor. Usually, you will get the Marriott but I've also gotten the other 2 hotels I mentioned above.

Fell's Point is a water taxi ride away from the Inner Harbor.
You should not have to buy tickets ahead of time since the White Sox aren't a big draw.
I would recommend going aboard the USS Constellation for the self guided tour as it was alot of fun.

I hear good things about the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront - it's in the Inner Harbor. It will be a fairly good walk to Camden Yards, but defininately doable. 20 minutes maybe.
This hotel is in a fairly new developed area of Baltimore - Harbor East. Small shopping area directly around it, really great Movie theater (Landmark Cinemas). You would also be near Little Italy, which is a great place to find dinner.
You would also be close to all the attractions in the Inner Harbor.
For a seafood restaurant - I would recommend the Black Olive in Fell's Point, it would be a short cab ride away, I wouldn't walk it. It's greek and has wonderful fresh fish. Not your typical "fried" everything place - I would recommend having reservations.

While you are there make sure to climb up Federal Hill - best view in the city. And I would recommend the Visionary Arts Museum right next door - very original!

Last President's Day, my wife, my 2-year old son, and I stayed at the Homewood Suites in Harbor East and were very happy. We had a studio suite which included a small kitchen, a living area with pull out sofa, and a sleeping area. It worked out perfect. The hotel was new as of Oct 2007. Our rate, about $200/nt all in IIRC, included a decent breakfast, access to the attached health club (which has an indoor pool), and parking. We walked throughout the Inner Harbor and to Little Italy (very close). This hotel is across the street from the Marriott and attached to the Hilton Garden Inn.
