Princeville weather in November / Hyatt renovations
Hi, I will be traveling to Kauai in November. I would love to stay at the Princeville but I am very concerned about being on the rainy side of the island. How much rain is there, is it just 20 mins or does it rain all day?
I am also interested in the Grand Hyatt, but I notice the website says the hotel is currently being renovated. How will this effect our stay? Are the unronovated rooms still nice?

The weather is so variable in Kauai that time of year that it would be impossible to predict what it will be like in Princeville for the exact days you'll be there. It could rain all week or a few days or just 20 minutes per day or be sunny all week. It's all a matter of probabilities, no certainty. The North side of Kauai has a greater probability of getting more rain than the South side. But it will be a matter of luck what weather you will get on the days you are there. To increase the likelihood that you'll have good weather, stay on the South side. Also, in the winter months, the ocean waters tend to be very rough at the North side and hence not good for swimming or snorkeling. In the ideal situation, it's best to stay at Princeville in the summer and Poipu in the winter.
Of course, whatever the weather on Kauai, the island will be incredibly beautiful and you will have a fabulous time.

As far as renovations, I'd check with the hotel and ask what areas are effected. Will the pool or or spa or restaurants or other public areas be under renovation? Koa Kea, Whalers Cove or private rentals may also be an option to consider.

I just returned from the Grand Hyatt and they are doing renovations now. I was concerned and posted this thread on TripAdvisor:

The advice given was dead on. I never noticed at all that any renovations were occurring. The resort was gorgeous. We had a great stay and I would not hesitate to return again.
