Omaha lodging
We're planning a short family vacation to Omaha sometime this coming September. We will have a 1 and 3 year old at the time and our main destination is the zoo. Can you recommend a family-friendly hotel for us? Also, are there other activities that you would suggest?

We visited the zoo in November with our 5 year old daughter and she absolutely loved it - despite the freezing cold weather! The zoo is fantastic with a lot of indoor and interesting/unique exhibits.
I'm sure we'll go back again sometime as it is only a 4 hour drive for us so I'd like to hear what else is suggested for kid friendly activities.
We were en route to Colorado so we didn't stay in Omaha so I can't offer any hotel suggestions.

The Holiday Inn isn't at the "convention center." There is a convention center at the Holiday Inn. Omaha's major convention center is located at the Qwest Center a few blocks away from the other hotel you are staying at.

We visit Omaha regularly as we have family there. We have successfully Pricelined and gotten the Marriott or the Holiday Inn. Never paid more than $55. Both hotels are very nice. It is pretty easy to get to the zoo from either of them.

The zoo is wonderful! Will you have a car?
If you do, I would recommend the Super 8 at the Lake Manawa Exit in Council Bluffs, IA. It's just across the river from Omaha, so it's actually closer to the zoo than some of the cheaper hotels. Also, being in Iowa, the hotel tax was cheaper.
My info is almost 3 years old; when I stayed, my kids were 4 and 8. The motel has a continental breakfast, which should hold you for a little while.
Here's the hotel listing:
