Old Lahaina Luau - Which Seating?

I am torn between the traditional mat seating (closer to stage) or table & chairs seating (more comfortable). I am booking now for a trip in July 2008. Which would you recommend for the best luau experience?

We did the table and chairs seating; we still had a good view of the entertainment; the mat seating looked like it would get pretty uncomfortable after a while.

We too struggled with that dilemma a couple of years ago. We finally decided to book the table and chairs and we were really happy we did. We booked early enough that we still had great seats.

It was a very fun evening.

Another vote for the tables. It's a long (and wonderful!) evening. Our family group of 10 went for my parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Everything about it was lovely... the setting, the buffet dinner, the show. Very well done.

I definitely wouldn't have wanted to be sitting on the ground the entire time (plus it rained the night we were there & everyone was wearing temporary ponchos they passed out!). Those matts looked kind of soggy.

We did the traditional mat seating (June 2007) and personally enjoyed, it. Can't lie it did get a bit uncomfortable at times but to me totally worth it! we were right in front of the stage. You will be served last so if you decide to do this keep that in mind. I also would recommend you get there early (4:30 p.m) you will not be able to check in at that time but you will be able to secure a parking (they do not have a lot of space in front of their location) their is also a mall right across the street where you could go and kill some time before the show. Hope this helps. Gina

Thanks so much! This was very helpful! I have decided to go with the table and chairs seating - I called and was told that they did not have many reservations yet so am hopeful we will get a good seat! I also appreciate the tip about early arrival and mall.
