October in San Antonio
We plan to visit S.A. in late October.
Thinking of staying at LaQuinta Inn @ Market Squares - Would you recommend this Inn? or should we look for another hotel.
Looking something close to Riverwalk at midrange price around $150/night. How far is Inn to Riverwalk.
Also what restaurants are best within the Riverwalk? i.e MidPrice dinners or for Sunday Brunch.

The LaQuinta should be a nice place to stay. It is 3-4 years old. Within walking distance of the Riverwalk and the Alamodome. Another place to check is the Sunset Station Best Western, (across the highway from the Riverwalk, but on the trolley stop, which is free).
Good places to eat are Schilo's Deli (traditional german) Zuni Grill (southwest), Paesano's (Italian), Rio Rio (mexican).
Enjoy your visit.

I just returned from San Antonio and must warn you against Best Western Sunset Suites unless you're a very heavy sleeper. The freight train one block away which runs more than once an hour all night long woke me up at least 7 or 8 times. The hotel even provides ear plugs in a bedside drawer because of the noise. The hotel was nice but there's no way I ever want to wake up that exhausted again! If you're a heavy sleeper, you'll have no problem. It is much closer to the Riverwalk than La Quinta Market Square. There is also a new Red Roof Inn near the Best Western that gets good reviews, but we were bothered by a panhandler right in front of the Red Roof Inn so I'm not sure that's your best bet.

No. You are at the wrong La Quinta. Market Square is not that close to the Riverwalk. There is another La Quinta that is right next to River Center Mall and the Riverwalk. That's probably the one you want and the one that yGray is talking about. Price could be a little higher than the other one but not much.
Also same price range and location is a Hampton. As for restaurant, just start walking on the river and find one that has an outdoor menu that looks like you and outdoor seating if the weaather permits. None of them are the greatest of restaurants in terms of food, but the ambiance more than makes up for that lack.

Larry is correct. The LaQuinta you want is on Blum Street. You just walk across the street, through the Macy's, into the mall and then out to the Riverwalk. Stayed there recently and it was very nice. Good breakfast in the morning too.
