No bashing please, have a Vegas question...

I have done a search and still am not really able to determine which most would prefer, the Luxor or MGM? We will be traveling with some good friends that want to go to Vegas, I typically prefer any city over Vegas, ha, don't slam me please, but alas they wish to go to Vegas because of some concert, etc., so I need to know of these two hotels, which would you go with? We are able to treat them to the hotel because we have some vouchers, so that part is great. There is great golfing, so my fella is happy. We just are not gamblers, etc., so Vegas has not been a destination choice for us. Also, if anyone also wants to add a suggestion for a nice, nice restaurant that is your fav, I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

I haven't stayed at either hotel, so I can't offer you advice on those. As for restaurants, my favorite meal so far in Vegas (I've only visited twice) was at an Italian restaurant in the Excaliber. I don't know the name, but it is the only Italian one in there. And both MGM and Luxor are right near it.

I've stayed at MGM and had a wonderful room. I haven't stayed at the Luxor, but it always seems somewhat tacky to me. I'd chose MGM.

Have stayed at both. You can't go wrong with either choice. MGM a little better location, but not that big a deal.

We like the MGM better, but don't take a room in the "Emerald Tower" as they are a long long walk from the registration area and the rooms are smaller than in the other towers.

I've stayed at both and my personal opinion is that both are equal in the end.

MGM...way way way way too big. The inconvenience that is cuased by that is made up for by the fact that they have a monorail to get you the heck out of there and get to Bally's.

Luxor - better in terms of size, but location is not that great in my opinion. I enjoyed my stay at Luxor much more. At MGM, I literally got lost in the place and that is no fun.

Luxor is more unusual,if that makes a difference. As for MGM, I didn't stay there, but I really liked the public areas. It probably has better restaurants than the Luxor and a better location not to mention a monorail that will take you to Bally's, which is right in the center of the strip. That is a great convenience.

If you wanted to hang out at Mandalay, then I would stay at Luxor because you can walk from one to the other, indoors. If not, I'd stay at MGM. I find Luxor to be kinda cheezy and seems to attract a lot of kids because of the IMAX and arcade stuff.

As for restaurants, my fav is Picasso at Bellagio.
