Remodeling at the Aladdin, Las Vegas
I booked my Vegas trip for January at the Aladdin, and then heard it is currently remodeling to become a Planet Hollywood Hotel. Some of the reviews I've read were awful and some were great. Since my package has a high cancellation fee, I can't change the hotel. Has anyone stayed there lately, how aggrevating is the construction?

....just a few days ago. It's remodeling. Question is, how much are you in your room or even in the hotel you stay? If you got a great deal on the room...SMILE and be happy. Good luck on the tables and don't seat the small stuff.

When we stayed there in August it was in major remodeling -- particularly the casino and public areas, which seemed to be finishing up. They were also painting the outside of the building so we had notices about keeping draperies closed. Surely they should be done with all that soon.

I was in Las Vegas last week and while I didn't stay at the Aladdin I did walk past it a few times on the strip and did go inside. It doesn't look like it is nearing completion to me but I'm no expert. From the inside I didn't really notice the construction much but from the outside it is an eyesore and a pain to get around it on the strip. I'm assuming though you will probably be pretty mobile during your visit and won't just be at your hotel the entire trip anyway. It is in a good location (I think) for exploring other hotels/casinos so I'd just plan on doing that if the construction gets to you.

When I was out there about a month ago, they were just finishing up the buffet dining room and one pit of the casino. I do not know how the buffet will be when opening back up as the temporary one upstairs was not nearly as good as before the remodel began. It looks like they are doing the remodel in stages which limits some of the mess. I don't think that it will make a big difference in your stay. If you do care for what is going on in the casino, you have about a dozen options within walking distance to gamble elsewhere.
