New Years Eve in San Antonio

Hi,

I am looking for suggestions for a place we ( family of 4: 2 adults and 2 teens) can go for New Years Eve. Obviously, with two underage members of our group, we cannot go to a bar. Are there any restaurants that have a New Years Eve kind of thing where my teens would be welcome? We are all not into large crowds in close quarters which seems to rule out the event infront of Hemisfair Park. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Eve

Ezs,
Our family (2 adults and 2 teens)will be in San Antonio Dec. 26-30 for the Alamo Bowl. I'll keep my ears open while we're there for fun New Year's Eve activities and report in from SA. Are you also going for the game, by chance?

Tess,

No, we aren't going to the Alamo Bowl. Who's playing? We'll be in Austin for three days before we get to San Antonio so I'll check this board to see what you find.

Have a great time and I hope your team wins.

Not helpful for your NY Eve question but I thought I'd give you an idea of how to spend one of your morning/afternoons while there. Check out Seg City for Segway tours. We did it over Labor Day weekend and had such fun!

Eve,
It's Nebraska vs. Michigan in the Alamo Bowl--we're on the NE Cornhusker's side We're taking our laptop along so I'll make sure and let you know what I find out while we're there. Where are you staying while you're in SA?

Question on the Seg tours (not to hijack your thread, Eve--sorry!)--where do you rent them? My two teens would love trying that out.

It's funny. We're doing the Segway tour in Austin. We did a Segway tour in Paris a couple of years ago and it was wonderful!

Hope Nebraska wins, Tess. I look forward to any info you can provide. Have fun!

Have you already booked your hotel in the downtown area? If not, think about the Hyatt Hill Country Resort.

Tess: Look for happytourist and DH at the Alamo Bowl. We'll be wearing our Cornhusker red, of course.

Well, we are in Austin and did a Segway tour yesterday with HT Segway Tours. It is owned and run by Felix Garcis who was a pleasure to deal with. Felix made the tour a lot of fun.We all enjoyed it a lot. I highly recommend the experience! My 13 year old would like to do it again in San Antonio, but I think once a week will be sufficient.

I'm still hoping for ideas for New year's Eve in San Antonio!!!

Happy Holidays,
Eve

Eve,

Greetings from San Antonio! It's just wild here right now with the Nebraska/Michigan fans here for the Alamo Bowl--imagine most of them will clear out by the 31st. I've been doing lots of checking/asking around for you and keep hearing about the huge event that you mentioned in your original post--not much help.

Dick's Last Resort on the Riverwalk seemed like an especially wild, fun place (at least my 16 year old thought so), but honestly, your mentioning that you don't like large crowds in close quarters made me wonder if you'd like the Riverwalk on New Year's. It was jam packed tonight and I even started feeling a little claustrophobic a few times. Maybe the crowds will all be at Hemisfair Park on the 31st, though...

I'll keep checking!
