New Mexico in May

Me, my husband and 18 year old son are flying into and out of Albuquerque - arrive may 11 and leaving may 20. We plan on renting a car and want to see the area around Albuquerque, sante fe and probably Taos. Love to hike (not too strenuous), visit pueblos, buy jewelry (love Zuni jewelry and fetishs). Meow Wolf art complex seems cool. O'Keefe's Museum.Thinking of going to Roswell but seems really a long way out.

Suggestions for itinerary and how many days we spend in each place? Interested in what people think are places not to miss!

Thank you for suggestions!

Take a day and visit Bandelier National Monument www.nps.gov/band

I would skip Roswell; there is plenty to do in the places you want to see without it.

While you're in Albuquerque, head west about an hour to Acoma Pueblo. I don't think you have time to go to Zuni unless you want to spend the night there or up in Gallup.

I haven't been to Meow Wolf yet, but I have several friends who love it.

And look up beachgirl247 on this board. She had various restaurant listings. Check on the restos, some may have closed since she posted.

There is so much to do in New Mexico. We've done several trips in a loop from Albuquerque. If you click my name and scroll down to the trip reports you will find them.

I second Acoma-it was authentic and spectacular! You could combine it with some hiking in Petroglyph National Park to make a day out of it. If you go to Santa Fe (which didn't excite me much) than stop in Madrid (we all loved it-actually stayed the night there)-there are some great artists jewelry studios there.
