You can research average weather data for NYC (or any other major location) at www.weatherbase.com
If you want more historical data, including charts showing what actual weather conditions were in NYC (or any other city) for any given period go to www.wunderground.com - use the Travel & Activities drop down menu to look at charts that will tell you actual weather "daily" conditions for any specific period for the last 1o years. Study the information and you'll know more about NYC weather than most locals.

May is usually pleasant. June can be the same but you can also get some very hot days. Evenings - esp out on the water will be cooler.
Any day can be humid and any day can rain - dri zle or heavy. You will need comfy walking shoes - and make sure at least one p air is closed -you will walk miles and a a study folding umbrella. Do not bring just sandals since you don't want to be slopping through filthy water - or like the tourists I saw coming out of Grand Central wearing tees, shorts, flip flops and extra large black garbage bags when it was 55 and pouring.
