I was very surprised with the wines at Castello d'Amorosa. I thought a winery with a cheesy, reproduction castle would have lousy wine. But, I loved their Italian style wines, bought quite a few bottles to ship home. Their Sangiovese is one of the best I've every had! Skip the cheesy castle tour and spend your time tasting!

My favorite is Peju. Fun. Lovely grounds. Also delicious cabernets as well as my favorite sauvignon blanc. Lots of singing/yodeling/informative rapping. Does not take itself seriously but is serious about the wines.
Casa Nuestra. Old school presentation. Very very casual. Rustic picnic grounds. I love their Tinto wine and the Tinto story is cool.

My favorite is Saviez and Three Clicks. At Saviez, Mike Saviez will take you into the vineyard and it is also a historic property. There is a wide variety of winers here.
Three Clicks is a very small producer of Petite Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. You would meet with the owner/winemaker directly. These types of personal experiences are what I look for when I have guests visiting.

We really enjoyed Hess and both V. Sattui locations. The 'cheesy castle' mentioned above is one of the V. Sattui locations. Like the other person mentioned it is fun and the wine is good.
Hess is tucked away with great views and they have an interesting museum. Half way into our first day we ditched out ‘plans’ and just started stopping wherever we felt like it. You really can’t go wrong. We also went to the visitor’s center in Napa, and a really sweet lady gave us excellent advice!
Have a wonderful trip. We are probably going back again this December!

Last weekend in Napa & Sonoma I used an iPhone app called "Tasting Pass Finder" http://bit.ly/gnoFlU
Its a great app as it uses GPS to instantly find tasting passes/coupons to wineries closest to you. It even gives directions so I dint have to waste time driving around.
