Key West Romance

I'm in the process of planning a vacation for our tenth anniversary this spring. We've been to Key West before and just love it, so there is a good chance that's where we will go. I'm looking for recommendations of a place to stay that screams romance. Remember, it is our 10th anniversary. I want a killer room with a wonderful bathroom. Maybe a pool on the grounds. Any suggestions?

The Gradens Hotel wins hands down. Beautiful rooms, with great bathrooms and lovely gardens with a pool. Very attentive staff. It's prciey but it sure is romantic. You will remember it for a long time.

One word - Marquesa. It beautiful and very romantic. If it is already booked try The Gardens on Angela or the Heron House.

I'm heading there on the weekend of dec 14-16th and staying in the "Honeymoon Suite" of Jasmine House, a very small (4 rooms in total) guest house on Center Street. When I stayed in one of the other rooms several years ago, the suite was actually the owner's living quarters. It appeared then (and still does from photos) to be very nice - sound system, kitchen and French doors opening onto private courtyard w/outdoor hot tub. I will try to post a trip report after my return but feel free to email me in a few weeks to inquire - just use the above address and remove the " nospamtome" from the header. Regular price is $190 per night - we got it for $150 because business is (apparently) very slow in KW at the moment.

While the above poster got a good rate, don't be fooled. The first couple of weeks in Dec are the slowest time for Key West. And for what I understand Key West is doing very well. People are coming down for quick vacations and getaways.

I think the Marquesa fits the bill. It is simply a beautiful, elegant place.

Is the Hyatt romantic? We are staying there for a couple of weeks in January.

The Hyatt is a wonderful choice. It is one of my favorite hotels to recommend down here. I will also add that I think there are some B&Bs that are a more romantic only because they are not the "cookie cutter" style chain types. But the Hyatt is more like a large B&B. The style and the way it is run is very personalized. Make sure you get a room that overlooks the sunset and not "bum beach".

If money isn't a factor, check out Litle Palm Island. They have their own provate boat to take you out to the island. It is awesome and ever so private and romantic. Guest rooms are actually private bugalows with thatched roofs and very luxurious. One feels like you are on Gilligans Island...no phones, tv, etc. just you and your honey. Very small and intimate. Excellent 5 star resturant. Pool on island. Go to Fodor's search and type in Little Palm Island- there should be other posts. Let us know if you decide on LPI. We were there a few years ago and would love to return.
Hope this helps.

I also love Little Palm Island. It was destroyed by Huricane Georges a few years ago and it was fixed up better than ever. It is beautiful. It is 28 mile from KW and a quick 10 minute boat ride.
