Hotel Near Houston Ikea

Hello! I'm thinking about planning a trip from Austin to Houston for a long anniversary weekend--first weekend of April. We've talked about driving over there for a shopping trip to Ikea, but never have so this is as good of a reason as any. I'd like to stay one night near Ikea just for convenience. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel? Thanks in advance!

All of the Galleria hotels are relatively close to IKEA. There are a couple of places just across the freeway (one used to be a Ramada, I think) but I'd do the Galleria area as it's nicer.

If you don't want to spend a fortune, there is a LaQuinta just down the street from Ikea and there are a lot of nice restaurants closeby too.

If it's for your anniversary you should definitely stay in the Galleria area. Hotel Derek is a funky hotel oriented toward to 20-30 year old crowd, and you also have every brand of hotel imaginable in the Galleria area, which is a short drive from IKEA. If you want a downtown experience and want to go for dinner and drinks, you could try Hotel Icon and then hit IKEA on your way out or into town. It's on I-10 less than a mile west/outside of the 610 west loop.

Hello:
I stayed at the Dallas Galleria Westin December 2003, and I dont recommend you stay there. It's convenient if your going to the Galleria but its not nice. Its very old and needs remodeling and new carpets, i guess. The corridors and rooms have a funcky smell to them. ITs not a Westin quality hotel in my opinion. The beds are nice and so is the shower bur everything else is pretty much rundown (for the price).

Thanks everyone! In our neighboorhood the bluebonnets are starting to peep up & peek wildflowers should be soon. I'm really excited about our trip--we plan to stop around Brenham too. I love this time of year! Thanks again.
