Honolulu airport to Waikiki

We will be in Waikiki in June. There will be seven of us(five adults, two kids), with probably four checked bags and seven carry-ons. I would like to take a limo to make it extra fun for the kids but don't know if there are limos big enough for the whole group with the luggage or should we take a shuttle.

Numerous limos operate as regular taxis. We didn't know this until we arrived at Honolulu airport a few weeks back and got a cab. When a limo pulled up, just because it was his turn in the queue, my 9 and 8 year old were ecstatic.

We called him for the ride back to the airport the next day, as well.

Same rate as a regular taxi. Believe the base fare from the airport to the Royal Hawaiian was $40, we tipped the guy another $10.

I had the same experience. We got an older limo last trip just by luck of the draw in the taxi line up. Same price.

so, if you watch carefully, you might be able to get a limo at no additional cost. By timing your when you get your spot in the line is what I meant.

Recently booked a week rental car with Thrifty through an AA promo getting bonus miles and the cost was $145. total for the week.

For us, after subtracting the $80 RT we'd have to pay for a taxi then adding the convenience of having a car for quick trips to Wal-Mart, sunsets at Ala Moana Park, eating on Kapahulu or a ride to the blow hole and Waimanalo Beach at only $9./day + petrol (and extra AAmiles) with FREE parking on Ala Wai or near the zoo is the only way to go.

The largest car rental is either a minivan or a large SUV. Getting to the hotel from the airport with 7 people, 4 checked bags and 7 carryons would require 2 rental cars - while the minivan will hold all the people, you wouldn't be able to also fit all the luggage.

As previously mentioned, there are limos that operate as regular taxis. I suppose you could wait at the taxi rank and wait for one to eventually pull oup or you could call a cab company in advance and order one.

Thank you for the advice. I decided to go with a shuttle company called Hawaii23, they will provide a van big enough to transport all seven of us and our luggage for $35. They also will provide leis upon arrival for $7. It's much cheaper than a limo and the kids will like the lei greeting.

Excellent decision!
We've used H23 four times (including the airport return) and have already reserved for our visit next year. Mark, and his beautiful wife Yuka, are nice folks and very reliable.
Don't begin to know how they can hold to the $23 price; think I'll drop him an email and suggest something along the lines of a fuel surcharge (just kidding).

P.S. Don't know if in your plans, but Oahu is our favorite Island for a scenic drive...so many miles of beautiful coast hugging highway. There must be at least a dozen convenient car rental agencies throughout Waikiki and, once you get out of the big city, the pace is quite leisurely. If you pick one with a late drop off time, you can avoid the outrageous Waikiki parking rates.

Just to update, we did use Hawaii 23 for the trip from the airport to our hotel and it was great. Mark was very informative and friendly. He did forget to get our leis for the kids but it was no big deal and I didn't even mention it to him. We got a limo for the return trip, so the kids were happy, and it was about the same amount as H23
