I will be flying to Honolulu and then catching a flight to another island the next day. I need shuttle service from the airport to a hotel. What would you recommend for a value price-one night stay? Thank you

Go on into Honolulu and experience Waikiki. Lots of options in Waikiki. I'd just grab a taxi to and from the airport.

To add to that, there aren't many hotels near the airport, and what hotels there are aren't very good.

There are only 3 hotels near the airport. None of them get good reviews. Waikiki is a short taxi or shuttle ride away with hundreds of options for places to stay, all price ranges. Unless you are arriving 10pm or later or leaving 7am or earlier, I think it's well worth it to go into Waikiki.
