Holland Michigan

What fun things are there to do in Holland Michigan...planning a trip to visit West Michigan later this year? Any good B and Bs?

Three things come to mind:

Holland State Park (great beach)
8th street shopping (similar to Naples FL)
Windmill Island (restored dutch community)

Spent some time there last summer...anyone else have some thoughts?

While you are in the area, try to make a visit to Saugatuck. It's a nice little beach town on Lake Michigan that has several nice B&Bs(Kirby House was very nice) and some really good restaurannts.

There is a wonderful bed and breakfast in Holland off Lake Macatawa called "Shaded Oaks"...very upscale, excellent breakfast and quiet retreat..I think they have a website too.

Holland is one of the best kept secrets especially during the summer months!

I would suggest a B & B in Grand Haven, which is directly north of Holland.
The Harbor House is a quaint little inn,
with a large porch that overlooks the channel. Their web site is www.harborhousegh.com

Holland and Grand Haven are great to visit during the summer. The State Parks in both towns are well kept, with nice beaches. I would also suggest looking into charter fishing.

Shopping areas include 8th street in Holland, but also Saugatuck is great.
Saugatuck is a smaller town south of Holland. At lot of Chicago folks come up the coast and stay here in the marina. A nice B & B here is the Wickwood Inn.

I would certainly stay in Saugatuck and do a day trip over to Holland. IMHO it's a much nicer town than Holland although the Dutch park is interesting.

I have only been to Holland during the "off season", but there is a Delft factory that gives tours if anyone is interested in that sort of thing. The state park is supposed to be gorgeous.
