Hilton Head Island Luxury Rental

We are looking to rent a luxury home for my husband and I and that is pet friendly for a small, crate trained dog. We have visited HHI before and stayed at the Westin and loved it. This summer we would like to go back for longer and bring our dog.
I have been searching on the internet and I am very overwhelmed. Does anyone have any good websites, real estate companies or suggestions to help us out?
We are looking for something that is "Upscale," a pool would be nice and we would love a view of water - ocean or lagoon.
Any help is appreciated!

From an island resident: I'd call Sea Pines Real Estate at 843 785 3334 for Sea Pines properties or Dunes Marketing at 843 842 1111 for Palmetto Dunes properties. I assume both have short term oceanfront homes. (Bring money.)

Thank you. I spoke with Sea Pines and they do not allow dogs. I'll try the other #, thanks.

Try www.vrbo.com. By dealing with the owners you stand a better chance of finding one that will accept a dog.

We stayed at Villamare a couple years ago. The unit was nice, the pools were nice but the overall complex was beginning to show age. I would go back in a heartbeat though.

Check out www.petfriendlytravel.com. We rent a 3 BR condo from South Beach Rentals that allows pets. On lagoonside, a 500 yard walk to the beach. Access to the South Beach Marina pool, a 300 yard walk.

If you work the pet friendly and travel with pet web sites you'll find a few HH homes that take pets, but not many.

Try www.sunsetrentals.com. They have many pet friendly properties. Look for the rentals that are designated Premium Properties.

We are going to Hilton Head early next month (May), and we are bringing our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I was in the same boat as you (no pun intended), and my search led me to several of the online listings, VRBO.com, hiltonheadvacationandgolf.com, etc. We found exactly what we were looking for - a luxury house, pet friendly, a pool, and close to the beach. You will find the same, if you are flexible with your dates (or at least look very early). There are many luxury houses with pools that are pet-friendly.

Good luck! If you would like the address of the house we are renting, please email me at ulicnyw at cs dot com.
