You'll love Harbor Springs. For a good casual lunch (or dinner) try Juillerettes (not sure on spelling). It's right downtown Harbor Springs just up the street from the harbor. Been there forever - good whitefish, try the Big-J-Club. For dinner you should try the restaurant right on the harbor at the marian(can't remember the name but you can't miss it) - good views, good food, nice wine list. From Harbor, the best place to buy groceries is to head toward Petoskey and you'll pass several markets - some small and some big grocery stores. Have fun.

I don't know if it's still there, but several years ago when we were in Harbor Springs, we ate at a restaurant called the Cupola Room that specializes in breakfasts. They had the most wonderful waffles, french toast, any kind of breakfast food that any of us had ever tasted. It was a great and memorable way to start our day and is close to the main street of Harbor Springs where all the shops are.
Have a great time. My husband and I love Harbor Springs!

I lived in harbor for two summers and have spent much time up there.
There are a number of places to eat in harbor itself; the pier (which is the one that jerry mentioned) is good. The New York across the street is decent too. a good local hangout is the crow's nest on state road on the way to cross village. once in cross village do not miss Legs Inn. It is famous up there. old polish restaurant with an interior of driftwood. a must do! at night they have bands and it is very, very local and super fun!! I would also go to Douglas Lake Bar (aka DLB), on Douglas Lake. A bit out of the way but the food is delicious! be sure to go to wildness state park north of cross village. the beach here is beautiful, quiet and stretches on for miles.
you'll find grocery stores on the way to petoskey. there is also an iga in harbro itself and a cute, gourmetish shop called toski sands on the way out of town towards petoskey. harbor springs is beauiful and sort of a blast to the past. have fun!

I Harbor Springs I love to eat at the Pier. I recomnd the fish, shrinp or anything that has wild mushrooms.
For a change of pace go to the Terrace Inn in Bay View for the planked whitefish. Or visit the offbeat Leggs Inn in Cross Village. It is fun to look around even if you don;t stay for a meal.
