Harbor Springs/Petoskey Restaurants

Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for Harbor Springs/Petoskey? Our family (4 adults and two kids-9 and 2) will be staying outside of Petoskey for a few days and are looking for suggestions on places to eat. We are pretty casual people and prefer meals around $10-15 per person for an entree, but would consider a nicer restaurant for a special night out for just the two of us.
Thank you!

Juillerett's is the familiar spot for plank fish that should be affordable and popular with the family. If you go to www.chowhound.com and enter Harbor Spings, Petoskey or Charlevoix you'll get a lot of info.

The famous just for two restaurant in the area is Tapawingo about 30 minutes from Harbor Springs. Very fou fou but five star fine.

A couple of years ago, we ate at Teddy Griffin's Roadhouse in Harbor Springs and it was really good.

It was a few years ago, so things could have changed by now.

Teddy Griffin's, is above your price range. If you are looking in that slightly higher range, the planked whitefish at the Terrace Inn is good and the setting is cool and unique.

In Petoskey, the Perry Hotel has a great casual room downstairs. In Harbor Springs the Stafford hotel is great. For the nice night out, try Little Traverse Bay golf course. It has great views. Towards Alanson is the Northwoods Tavern. They have great whitefish, cheap beer, and 99 cent desserts. That is a great place to take kids. You can color your own hat there. On Friday nights, there is an all you can eat seafood buffett at the Hidden River golf course. It is around $20, but is very nice.

The best thing is to pick up a copy of the free northern Michigan dining guide. It is around by the front doors of restaurants. It is GREAT. They have maps and full menus in it. We've found great places that way. Have fun!

We stayed in Harbor Springs last year and we ate a few casual meals at Turkeys. It has sandwiches and pizza and was right on Main st.
You have to get cookies from Tom's Mom's cookies, they are wonderful!
I had the best breakfast of my entire life at the Cupola room. It's very expensive, but it was worth every cent!!!
