good places to honeymoon?

I am planning my honeymoon for Oct. 5th - 12th. We had thought about Ambergris Caye, Belize, but have heard bad things about hurricane season AND rainy season. Are there any places along the GA beaches or any out islands that would offer great fishing, great food, quiet nights, activities during the day. We are outdoorsy people and don't want to go to a place that is built up, loud or commercialized. We are looking for a place that resemble beach huts for accommodations, but we are keeping open minds. Thanks!

Dave,
I am getting married next month and have been using theknot.com for my wedding checklist. They have lots of features about all different wedding/honeymoon stuff. Click on Honeymoon along the left side and you'll find tons of info. Costa Rica was one I thought looked neat but again rainy season might hamper it.

You might investigate Cumberland Island, where the late John Kennedy honeymooned, I believe. It is way not built up, though there are no "beach huts." The air temperature should still be pleasant, though the water will be chilly.

You might want to consider the Cook Islands or Fiji or even (if your budget allows) Bora Bora in beautiful French Polynesia. The islands of the South Pacific are terrific - though perhaps a bit further away than you want to go. All three of these places (and a few others in the region) can surely offer you what you are looking for - including beachfront bures and even (in some cases) overwater bungalows (for a price). The Kingdom of Samoa even offers some interesting "Treetop" huts at Coconuts Resort. The Cooks might be a little cool in early October (the end of winter down there), but other places in the area should be fine.

Take a look and judge for yourself. Personally, I think that Bora Bora may well be the most beautiful place on the planet - though Aitutaki in the Cook Islands is pretty amazing too.

Belize to Georgia...that is a huge difference.

Sea Island, St Simon's, Jekyll Island

Tybee near Savannah

of course the already mentioned Cumberland.

You can also go across the border to FL and hit up the Amelia/Fernandina Beach area which is quite nice.

BUT as far as beach huts in the US....not going to see a lot of that these days on the Eastern Coasts.

Fiji would be a good bet...lots of the raised up huts over the water. And that is great time of year weather wise!

We hit the Great Barrier Reef of Aussie last October and it was perfect!

If you don't mind the flight times....you would get more outdoor adventures than you can imagine!

Bluefish, hurricane season is from June 1st through November 30th and encompasses the entire East Coast, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Hawaii, and the entire West Coast (Typhoons). If you are worried about Hurricanes, look at Aruba. I wouldn't let hurricane season stop me from going to Belize.

The Cloister in Sea Island is one of the few 5 star hotels in the United States. It is absolutely wonderful. Check out their website.
