Door County Motel/Hotels
Some friends of our are getting married in Door County (Reception at the Wagon Trail Resort in Ellison Bay) in August, but the hotel rates at the resort are more than we can afford. Does anybody have any hotel suggestions that would be affordable (around $50 if possible) and yet still decent to stay in? We would be willing (but would prefer not) to go as far as Sturgeon Bay. Thanks!

If you use the following link, you can search for hotels/motels all over Wisconsin. You can narrow the search by county and if you click on the Advanced Search feature and it allows you to search by a variety of other criteria.

It is going to be fairly difficult to find anything in Door Co. in August for $50. You may have to consider Green Bay. There are also some places in Kewaunee that might be $50. You may try calling the Door County Chamber of Commerce at 800-52RELAX.

Assuming the wedding is on a weekend, JoeG hit it right on the head. I can't imagine any place in Door County to be had for $50 per night even in Sturgeon Bay. In addition, the chances of any establishment accepting an advanced, one-night reservation. Is the Wagon Trail Resort offering any price break based on the wedding couple reserving a block of rooms?

No the wagon trail is not offering any special rates. The bride and groom sent us the reservation form and the cheapest room was $110/night. I've heard the Village View briefly mentioned in a previous forum and I checked their website and their rates are $57-85. Has anybody stayed there before? How is that hotel?
Thanks again for your help.

Ok, I've done some more research over the weekend and Ellison Bay was actually more expensive than a few in Sister Bay. I think I have it narrowed down to two... The Village View and The Patio. Has anybody stayed at either of these places or know their reputation? Thanks again for all of the responses so far, they have been helpful.

Sister Bay is a charming little town and close to Ellison Bay. I hope you have time to drive the Peninsula and stop at some of the lighhouses. We have a book from the Chamber of Commerce and both motels you mentioned are in there and both LOOK decent. (you know what they say about "looks") I think I would lean toward the Village View as you can walk to the beach and dock. They also advertise coffee and donuts, which to me is breakfast and a savings. (they have refrig. so you could bring your own orange juice, milk, cereal, etc) You might want to check out the Coachlite Inn. They advertise rates starting at $54.00 and includes cont. brkfst. 1-800-745-5031
