Comments on Flamingo hotel in Vegas

I have been to Vegas many times and know the Flamingo is a good location. I got a super rate for December. Are the rooms adequate. Clean quiet etc. Don't need luxury. Would like any feedback from anyone who has stayed there recently. Thanks

hermit- As long as you don't require luxury, they are fine. I stayed there recently and would go back again. Our room was both clean and quiet- (In my previous trips to Vegas, I never spent much time in the room) Also, the breakfast buffet was good.

I second everything Beatle wrote. I stay at the Flamingo frequently; the rooms are clean and quiet. The hotel itself (and the gaming areas) aren't too over-run and overwhelming. Buffet is good and the pool is great.

Clean, yes, quiet, yes, location is great. Unlike Beatle we tried the buffet once for breakfast, once for dinner, and unless we get 2 for 1 coupons like last time we're not going there again! But would stay at the hotel anyway. I do remember hairdryer, safe, iron/board in the room. Not sure about coffeemaker.

One word:

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.

Ok, three words, but you kwim. Yes, the rooms are fine; we were there in June. And how much time will you be spending in your room anyway?

Again, the location facilates enjoying everything Vegas offers.

Thanks everyone. I knew the location was excellent and NO I don't spend much time in the room but I do like clean sheets etc.
Now if the crap tables will be good to me I'll be a happy person.

Agree with above comments - stayed there this summer. We had no coffee maker in room - I think that is because they want you to walk bleary-eyed in the AM downstairs, through the casino, to get first coffee and maybe drop some money in the slot machines while you are still half asleep.

Were there for only one night on the way to National Parks, but my teenagers enjoyed seeing 5 Elvis impersonators in one trip to the pool.

If you are driving, the parking garage is a little difficult to find the first time - the entrance is over what appears at first to be a sidewalk for pedestrians only. There is a sign, but we second-guessed ourselves and missed it.

Message Hermit:
My husband and I spent two nights last week at The Flamingo for a business meeting. We were very disappointed. We reserved a king, non-smoking room and got a room with two double beds, dirty carpet, holes in the sheets, torn shower curtain, no cover on the electrical outlet, no coffee maker, $3.00 charge for the safe and no water glasses. We had stayed there two years ago and it was fine, but I can say it has definitely gone down hill. I will not stay there again.

Hermit, I have stayed there a few times on business. Most recently in July.

I believe there are some rooms that are more refurbished than others. For the most part, the rooms are exactly the word you used: Adequate. A place to sleep.

I think the Flamingo is a good bargain when the rates are low. We spent $59 in late Sept/early Oct. It was the first time I have stayed there; my other hotels have been Orleans, Golden Nugget (10 years ago) and Paris.
Pros:
It's location is great.
Rooms are average sized and having floor to ceiling windows gives the impression of a much larger room. They are basically clean; we had a king sized bed with a queen bedspread..no bedskirt. Furniture is comfortable but somewhat worn (not dirty). Pillows very thin, but asked housekeeping for extra and they were brought right away.
Rooms have hairdryer/iron/board.
Nice view of the great pool area, which is wonderful to walk around if you are still up in the early morning!
Cons:
No good restaurants to speak of..adequate food.
Gambling is not great; but I think that is true of all ParkPlace Hotels...casino is really smoky if that is a problem
Rooms are somewhat worn, and I stress again not dirty, and are being refurbished little by little. We checked in at airport and the checkin guy gave us all the wrong info..didn't reserve my sister a room next to us..she was down 5 floors on other side of hotel facing IP parking deck which is a drag. But next day was moved 3 down from us.
Bathrooms really small.
However; I would stay there again for the right price..I love being right on the strip. Have a great time!

Stayed there in Sept., Executive room ($90) had coffee maker, HD etc. AND sofas and chairs by the window - They were dirty on the bottom, like the carpet cleaner brushed it up in the fabric. Were promised a street-front room and got a pool view. Were in the check-in line so long that we lived with it.

Had the dinner buffet (very good), went next door to the Barbery Coast for B'fast, great for $2.99. Another night had Flamingo homemade pizza (excellant) from a rest. on the way back to the room.

Location was good, room so-so, and I got Hilton points (until the first of the year).

One more pro -- the Second City comedy club is located there. We went and it was HILARIOUS!!!! Great sketch comedy for a good price.
