Chicago Hotel For Kids
Dear Travel Forum,
My wife and I are planning a special 10 year wedding anniversary trip to Chicago with our children (ages 5 and 7). I know, it sounds crazy, anniversary and children, however, we feel that they will have a great time in this wonderful city. Lots of kid stuff.
Therefore, our question is: What 4 or 5 star hotel really caters to children as well as adults, i.e., kid's club, spacious rooms, in-room games, chldrens menu, and a staff that really enjoys children? We don't want the same "me too" attitude that many hotels seem to have when asked about their childrens accomodations. It should be first class, therefore, price is not an issue!!
Thanks in advance.
Frank

I think the Embassy Suites Lakefront would be a good choice for your situation. The hotels offers true two-room suites that will give the space and privacy that you want. Embassy suites has two downtown locations and this one is by far more upscale even though it tends to cater to familys and costs less. (go figure). My Wife got all excited when she got to take home Bath and Body works soaps, shampoos and what not .
Embassy suites often runs promotions for familys with Nickolodeon fun packs for kids. I don't know if they are still running this promotion.

Embassy Suites Lake Front is great if you're going in warm or warmish weather-if you're going in the winter, it will be very cold and there won't be much to do at the navy Pier which is nearby. We stayed at the Omni chicago recently and were very pleased with it. Location was fantasitc, rooms are suites and we found the staff to be terrific. They do not have a formal kids program however. Your kids will have a great time in chicago, as will you.

Thanks everyone,
I think my wife and I saw the Embassy Suites hotel on our river boat tour two years ago. It is very nice and close to Navy Pier.
What about cool kids restaurants nearby?
Thanks Again.

For lunch a good choice would be FoodLife, its in the basement of Water Tower Place, its an upscale food court type place. Where you can walk around to the different themed stations that serve all sorts of food and you pay at the end with a credit card type thing you get.
If you want cool kids reastraunts for Dinner you may want to check out Rainforest Cafe, Cheesecake factory, and ESPN the zone.

IF YOUR KIDS (OR ONE OF THEM) are girls-they'll love The American Girl Store (its near the Water Tower, off Michigan, a few blocks north of the Embassy Suites) which has a cafe in it. They can dine with their doll. Also Ed Debevics (50s style diner with singing/dancing waitstaff) is fun for kids.
