Chicago hotel for family of four?

We'll be going to Chicago for a few days with our two young children. I'm familiar with the chain hotels (we prefer Residence Inn by Marriott - lots of room for the $$) but am wondering if there are any other hotel I might not be aware of in Chicago that have 2/3 room suits that would be good for a family? I am considering staying in the city or in a suburb just outside of it (where we wouldn't have to $$ for parking!). Any suggestions?

I realize this post is a week old, but as it has no answers, I'll give it a shot and hope it helps. There are other suite hotels to consider in Chicago. Check out prices/location for:

Fitzpatrick Hotel
Lenox Suites
Holiday Inn Navy Pier (I think I read this has suites)

I think there may also be a Homewood Suites and a Doubletree Suite hotel but I don't have them listed in my bookmarks.

As to staying in a suburb to avoid parking - consider that you will spend considerable time each day going to and from the city. If your children are small this may be interesting for about 5 minutes. You will also be paying to transport 4 people into and out of the city, so a parking fee of ~$25/day may not be much different from the commuter train tickets.

There is an excellent Homewood Suites right by the Magnificent Mile. We stayed there two years ago. It's got the two-room suite, kitchen, two TVs, etc. Great location too. I forget the exact address, maybe Grand Street? Also there is a Doubletree Guest Suites right up by the lake. I haven't stayed there, but it is probably very nice also.

We liked the Homewood Suites too. Kids love the big breakfast and the meals (hot dogs, soda, salad, dessert etc.) served on Monday-Thursday evenings.

I think there are two Embassy Suites downtown. We stayed at the one a few blocks east of Michigan Avenue. It's a typical Embassy Suites - I don't know if the room is big enough for you, but it worked for us and three kids. Location was great - an easy walk to Michigan Avenue and the loop.
