Need Sonoma Restaurant Help ASAP Please!!

I just called to book dinner for us and my 2 friends for next Sat night (Oct 9th) at Cafe La Haye, and they are booked solid for weekends for the next 3 weeks!! I had no idea!!

I am torn between Girl and The Fig and Deuce.

Would appreciate comments on either.

Cafe La Haye recommended Bistro La Poste, but their menu seems a little sparse.

We are eating Italian at lunch at Bistro Don Giovanni, so don't want Italian, which rules out Della Santini.

p.s.s. - sorry - Glen Ellen Inn also a possibility, but I did not include it in list as the review in Zagats wasn't great.

I'm a huge fan of girl and the fig. The food there is simply amazing. I haven't been to Deuce, but last time we were there visiting a "big name in town" local who has lived in Sonoma all his life recommended it to us! ***kim***

We ate at Deuce last year and it was excellent. The Fig is likewise and they both have outdoor dining which would be very nice on a warm evening. La Poste is French Bistro style so it depends on what type of menu you prefer.

The crab cakes at girl and the fig are some of the best I've ever had! Their fig salad is excellent and the lavendar-infused creme brulee is amazing! Hope this helps you to decide! ***kim***

Thanks everyone. I will see if Girl and the Fig has room.

Can anyone comment on Glen Ellen Inn Restaurant.

Also, I made reservations for 4 for Sunday brunch on Meritage's web site, and never got a confirm, so I called them last night and no one answered - just a machine. I left a message asking someone to either email me or call me and confirm the reservation.

So far I have neither. Should I be concerned and look for someplace else?

Have brunch at the Garden Court Cafe in Glen Ellen. They don't take reservations but the choices and quality of food is well worth it! It's a better choice than the Glen Ellen Inn.

Je - and everyone else -

We were looking at Glen Ellen Inn as a dinner substitute, not for brunch. But given that Meritage has yet to respond to my web reservation, phone call or email, perhaps Garden Court Cafe is a better bet for brunch.

Would all of you recommend Girl and Fig over Glen Ellen Inn or Deuce for dinner???

wanderer-while Don Giovanni does have italian style dishes I have never really considered it Italian. I think you could eat there for lunch and Della Santini w/o feeling like its all too much!

OK, will check out Della Santini.

Girl and the Fig contacted me and said they have no availability for Sat night.

I am contacting Deuce tonight. Have reserved Glen Ellen Inn just in case.

Can anyone comment on the food at Della Santini? Does it have a patio?

Haven't eaten at Della Santini but believe it's good. If you're thinking about the Glen Ellen area for dinner instead, I think Saffron is a better choice than the Glen Ellen Inn. Their menu is more interesting and the food is excellent.
