I will be in Chicago next week for work. As it stands, there are NO hotel rooms anywhere in the downtown area, so it looks like I'm stuck staying at one of the airport hotels. Ugh, the worst. Can I console myself with a good meal near ORD? Is that a laughable idea?

The rooms at the Intercontinental are gorgeous, if that's any consolation.
Rosemont is right next to O'Hare and has a plethora of hotels. There is also a stop for the blue line. Rosemont has a bunch of some of of the big name restaurants you'll find downtown, like Capital Grille, Harry Caray's, Giordano's, McCormick and Schmicks, and Gibsons.
Yes, I see that I'm at the Intercontinental, so that is a consolation! I thought I'd be staying IN the airport. Phew. Thanks everyone. Looks like I will eat and sleep well. Now the only downside is no morning run on the lake . . . .
Schaumburg is a nice area to stay in near ORD with plenty of good restaurants and inexpensive hotels
