Cannon Beach Or Seaside Oregon

Will be taking a 30th Anniversary trip to the Oregon Coast. Will be flying into Portland, so want something fairly close, a nice place to stay on the ocean, and some nice places to dine. Any suggestions whether we should stay at Cannon Beach or Seaside?

Hi,

I just happened to see your post on the opening page... I would definately recommend Cannon Beach over Seaside... We stayed in Cannon Beach (rented a beach cottage from VRBO) and it is a lovely beachside town. I did not find Seaside too nice, it had a sort of carnival type feel to it.

But the coast along that area is just beautiful.

I also reccommend Cannon Beach. A year ago, we stayed at Seaside and didn't care for it. Cannon Beach has a more relaxing sophisticated feel to it. Check past posts, as there are many reccommendations of places to stay in Cannon Beach.

Cannon Beach, hands down. CB is perfect for an anniversary while Seaside is much better suited for a group of 10 yr olds with all the arcades and such.

No doubt about it - Cannon Beach is the clear winner for an anniversary. Listen to mms - Seaside is fine, but for a totally different age group and occasion.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!

Another vote for Cannon Beach. We like to stay at Schooner's Cove where rooms have great ocean views and where shopping and restaurants are outside the back door. HTTY

Hi! I love both areas, we have a beach cottage in Seaside where we spend several weeks a year. For a romantic getaway, I would suggest you check out The Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach. They have a great restaurant there, Bistro and Newman's @ 988 are also in Cannon Beach where you will find excellent food. Yummy Wine Bar in Seaside is not to be missed for some great food in cozy, upscale ambiance. I hope you enjoy your time at the coast! ***kim***

happytrailstoyou;

Can you hear the ocean from the rooms at Schooner's Cove?

For sure, Cannon Beach. Seaside looks like it was once a nice town but has gone to seed a bit.
