Best beach hotel & things to do in San Diego
A couple of friends and I are going to San Diego this summer around mid July. We are looking for a hotel thats not more than $200 a night. We would like the hotel to be near the best beaches, but also close to fun places like the SD zoo, and whatever else the city has to offer. Speaking of, what is there to do in San Diego?

How about starting here:

Why on earth did you choose to go to San Diego without even having a clue as to what's there other than beaches and a zoo (by the way, the Zoo is inland, a few miles from the beach)?!?

Sounds like a fun trip with your buddies. The island of Coronado is centrally located and very pretty - see if you can finding inexpensive lodging there, but ask how close to the beach the property is. The Catamaran resort Hotel on Mission Bay is supposed to be a great place with lotsof water sports. Balboa park has museums and is really cool. The zoo is amazing, as is the Wild Animal Park.

We loved Coronado Island. We stayed at the Del, if it is out of your price range, there is a very quaint little place called the El Cordova Hotel right across the street that is moderately priced.
La Jolla is a gorgeous area of San Diego, also. We enjoyed spending a day there relaxing at the cove, taking in the sunset, shopping on Prospect St. and dinner at George's at the Cove. It is a very upscale area of San Diego.
We also enjoyed spending the day at SeaWorld, it will be crowded in mid-July. We were there the first week of December on a Monday and enjoyed the park crowd free. It was a lot of fun and a true San Diego experience! Enjoy your trip! ***kim***

HI..
I found the perfect place for you on one of the best beaches in La Jolla for $219 and its oceanfront on Expedia..
La Jolla Shores Hotel in a garden room would be perfect location and the water is gorgeous to snorkel, swim or kayak..
July is very expensive anywhere and this is an incredible deal..
La Jolla is a beautiful city just north of San Diego..
Keep us posted!
