Atlanta driving
Every year we drive I75 from Michigan to Florida. Frequently we are stuck in Atlanta traffic and got wondering if the locals have a road or highway they use in town to stay off 75. We have taken the bypass and do not like that but would like to see some local sites - even if we do not save time.

I am assuming from your post that on your way to Florida this year you want to stop and visit some sites of Atlanta? Any sites in particular? How long for your stopover? And you would like to avoid the traffic of 75. If you could tell me your ideas I could offer routes and suggestions.

If your just driving through, there really isn't a local "highway" that is an alternate to 75. If the traffic is the concern I can only suggest you time your arrival on 75 on the outskirts of Atlanta to not coincide with rush hour which can occur 6-10 am and 3-7pm. 75 is a major artery and traffic can be bad especially at these times.

Have you considered going another route?
I don't know your beginning or ending cities but I just did a driving directions on MapsOnUs.com
Saying you were going from Detroit to Orlando
It has you cutting over to 77S and then working over towards I 95.
Charlotte traffic is definitely better than Atlanta and the rush hour times are less!
But if you really want to see local sites.....it all depends on what you enjoy doing?
There is Coca Cola, Martin Luther King, Margaret Mitchell for Gone with the Wind enthusiasts...Stone Mountain (not near downtown Atlanta).
Otherwise the others are correct--you aren't going to find an interesting highway to travel with alternative sites to my knowledge...unless you want shopping.
