Any suggestions for a "book-end" hotel in Kauai?

We are going to Kauai in December where we will spend a week with friends at the Waiohoi Beach Club (Marriott time share). We are going in two days before our week there and staying two days afterward. I can continue to stay at the same location (in a standard room, not the condo)the days after our stay for $249. I would rather find someplace a little more inexpensive for the days we are there before and after. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or is it worth it to stay in the same complex and not have to move? We will have a car. (Sorry if a similar post to this one comes up. I thought I posted this a couple of hours ago but can't find it by searching key words, nor by my name.) Thanks. PJK

PJK, instead of searching for your name or the post, just click on your name and you'll see all your posts!

Sorry, can't help you with your question though.

The Garden Island Inn in Lihue, nr the airport (and the other Marriott on Kauai) is about $100/night. It's near some good local Lihue restaurants, and not far from the Poipu area (maybe a 20 minute drive?) where your friends will be in their condo.

We have stayed at the Best Western Plantation Hale for our "bookend" hotel every summer for the last 5 years. We stayed at the Garden Island Inn the first year, but like the Plantation Hale better. It's right next to Coconut Marketplace.

P.S. I am sorry about the double post on this topic. I use this board a lot (mostly the one for Europe) but this is the first time I haven't been able to find something I posted. I looked several times yesterday and couldn't find it, then today, there it was. PJK
