ABQ to Santa Fe
I will be attending a meeting in Santa Fe in October. Have never been to NM. I will be flying to ABQ. What would be the best way to get to Santa Fe, if I really don't need a car in Santa Fe for a week ?
From Santa Fe will fly on to Boston so I assume I will need to get back to ABQ airport.
Any suggestions appreciated.

You could take the Rail Runner from downtown ABQ to Santa Fe depot for about $12 (used to be $5 but they changed the fee structure). Less than half the price of the shuttle.

Take the RailRunner. This link tells you how to get from the airport to a station: http://nmrailrunner.com/airport.asp

I looked up both and they seem to either have not many runs or they take a lot of time. the Railrunner only runs every 3-4 hrs; that is a lot of waiting around if you just miss it. Also, you have to get to downtown alburquerque from the airport. I think I'll try car rental.

I'm sorry. Guess they taper RailRunner schedule back come fall. I know they were running some special summer schedules including shuttles from station on up to Taos...anyway...
ABQ airport is very easy to navigate -- easy shuttle to all car rental counters & ramp right on to 25 North. As long as you don't hit rush hour, it'll be a breeze!

thanks 5ohs. it sure is a great price, though.... 7 bucks!
I guess I could take it and just hang out in alburquerque for a few hours.
I'll try priceline for cars first; if I don't get it, plan B. railrunner will do.

$7 is a great price for the Railrunner to get you to Santa Fe from the airport, but there isn't a connection on Sunday and the connections are a bit limited on the other days. You could take a taxi to the Railrunner Station if you come in at off times. [ I wouldn't want to hang out for any extended time at the RR station downtown.]

The normal connection from the airport to the Railrunner is via a free bus. Distance is maybe 3 miles or so from airport to RR Station.
@ AnnMarie - that thread is old and many things have changed since Andrew reported [new stations, changes in schedule etc]
