Getting to Santa Fe by air (or close to it). How?
To get to Santa Fe I would probably have to fly Alaska Air (mostly from Seattle or Portland). Or I could use one of their partners.
What would be the best way for me to get there. I don't mind driving an hour or so; in other words don't need to fly directly there if they even have an airport.
Should I fly Alaska to one of their cities then hop a local Southwest?
Obviously, I'm not at all familiar with this part of the country.

A few years ago I was sent to Santa Fe on business. I discovered that Santa Fe doesn't have a very big airport, and what few flights went there were very expensive. I ended up flying into Albuquerque on SW Airlines and driving an hour to Santa Fe.

Albuquerque is where you fly into to get to Santa Fe. There's a shuttle service (bus) if you don't want to drive.

Alaska Airlines doesn't fly ANYWHERE to New Mexico.
Most people fly to Albuquerque, which is only about 45-minutes south of SF (speed limit is 75 on I-25!)
You CAN fly into SAF...Great Lakes Aviation is the only commercial airline that flies here. There are 2 or 3 daily flights from Denver...I think they codeshare with United. They fly those turboprop planes, not regional jets (Canadair RJ7's, etc.) I only mention this because I know a few people refuse to fly turboprops.
But the airfare is double what you'd pay for Southwest.
Albuquerque's airport ("The Sunport") is VERY easy to fly in/fly out of....and it's VERY easy to get onto I-25.
I can't tell you what a joy it is to use this airport...after decades of hassles at LAX/SFO and now SAN or OAK (I'm a Cali transplant.)
