reviews of villas nicolas in MA?
Hi fellow travelers,
Recently i tried booking with villas Nicolas and have found the contact there to be very rude. Even in emails there is a kurt tone. The Inn seemed like perfect accomadations for us but we would rather keep looking if the service is poor and the hospitality runs short. Can anyone comment on the hotel or the service or lack there of?

We have booked there for later this summer. I didn't encounter anyone rude. If you do a search on this board for Villas Nicolas, you will find mostly good reviews. I don't remember any bad ones. It is a popular place. We are looking forward to staying there. Perhaps you just caught someone on a "bad day". . .hopefully that is the case!

khia,
I recently emailed w/ Villas Nicolas this past month as well. They were kurt in my emails as well, but someone reminded me that a lot gets lost in translation, I don't know... Even though she was kurt I'd continously bug her for my details though (She'd book me a room without AC even though I requested it, she'd try to upsell me to a studio II - I told her I can't afford it and she lowered the price, etc.) Although I did not book with them, my final email communication with them was a cordial one.

Khac323,
I hope this message reaches you in time! We stayed at the Villas Nicolas in Feb. 2004 and we used email and it was more short(for example: fill out this form and fax it to us etc) but due to our timeframe we ended up calling them (multiple times) and they were so helpful!(= We had a great time! I think there is something to be said for the general difficulty of conveying courtesy in email. When we arrived, the lady at the front helped us to check on Interbus and she helped us with all of our questions! (=
Also, you can't beat the location! It is right at a bus stop (.25 each way from MA to Quepos (runs back and forth every 20 minutes)) and next to the Hotel Si Como No which is really nice but more $$$. Within walking distance to an internet cafe (I think it was like .50 or less for 30 minutes (?)), the best seafood (karolas), best nachos (Barbara Roja), and the best sunset (La Mariposa).
I don't know if this will help but I also rec. searching this site for posts on villas nicolas I think most are favorable which is why we booked there and we were really happy we did! (= In addition for the price it is great! (=
As far as the air condition, yes I would have to say we were bummed when we got to our room but I discovered later that it is not standard to have it in MA but I think the actual hotels (like Si Como No) have it. If it is important to you then ask if the Villa Nicolas has any rooms w/AC (when we were there most other rooms were sold out). You are going to have a wonderful time! MA is a great experience!
I will top my report for you. It is called "Costa Rica #1, MA etc.)
Let me know if you have any other questions!
