One night in San Jose Costa Rica
Can I get some recommendations of where to stay overnight? I will be landing at 8 Pm in the evening in San Jose, and will have a half a day to kill the following day.
Is the city something to see, or should I just stay in the burbs around the airport?
Thank you

We like Grano de Oro if you're looking for a city hotel - neat architecture, good service, and good restaurant on site. If you want to get outside the city and have great views, etc., Xandari is nice.

Orquideas Inn is ok, but there's lots of noise and the smell of diesel fuel, etc. permeating the grounds. They do have a convenient, reasonable airport shuttle, and it's convenient for a possible visit to Poas if you timed it right.

Which is tiny, and cheesy...lots of photos of MM plastered everywhere, and the drinks and munchies are not cheap. The breakfast on the patio is nice, though, and the grounds are very pretty; if only it wasn't situated on that awful noisy, smelly, street corner! If you do go, ask for a room in the building on the rise; those aren't bad.
