leticia to iquitos

Has anyone been from leticia to iquitos lately?
Is there a flight or speedboat that travels between these two places?
Some one has told me there is a speedboat as the plane has broken down.
Are you able to move around? We are nearly 60 year olds and a bit worried about a speedboat.

Right, did this trip a year ago, and will never forget it and hope never to have to do it again. It took 13 hours and the speedboat was full, which didnt mean much as it took, I think, 12 people plus the pilot and assistant. There was absol. NO chance to move around, only small corridor, awful, prehistoric toilet facilities and only 2 stops on whole trip. Only 1 "meal " provided, and juice of a kind, so if you do do it, take food and drink. Our cases went on top, if it had rained would have got wet. Arrived Iquitos at night, having being speeding along the amazon in pitch dark with only one latern to show the way.
Anyway if you can find a company that will provide a proper boat with space etc, not so bad, but I would not recommend doing it by normal speed boat. There are bigger boats which do it in 2-3 days, could be better option. Also check out the hydrofoil boat-planes or flights, best option.
There's not much at Leticia and not that much really in iquitos, you only need it to get to amazon.
Let me know your plans so can help you more. Best wishes

I plan a visit by air frimm Bogota to Ignacio, but will return the same way to Bogota after a couple of nights in Leticia. I read quite a few warnings about lodging, Amazon tours and now speedboat travel from Leticia, so I will just "enjoy" the special atmosphere of this Amazon town and maybe explore possibilities for a future trip.
