Casa Andrea vs. Marriott Casa Magna with 3 kids

We are planning for spring break in PV and are deciding between these two hotels. Our girls are 14, 11 and 9 and (for the most part) enjoy each others company. Is Casa Andrea too "adult" for a family?

On the other hand from comments I have read about the poolside chair situation at the Marriott, it sounds like it may be pretty crowded. Also, how do the two beach areas compare?

In the past we have not stayed at chain hotels very often because we prefer something smaller and more atmospheric which is why I am leaning toward Casa Andrea. Any ideas?

I've stayed at Andrea's a few times. Casa Andrea does not allow children (but under 7, I believe it is, so that should be fine). It might be a little dull for the kids though, as I've never been there when any other kids were staying there. I assume you'd need to reserve a 2-bedroom apartments, and there are only two so availability might be an issue.

I've stayed at Casa Magna Marriott just once and thought it was a fine place. Great pool areas and was not too crowded in my very limited experience.

The beach at Casa Magna is a strip out behind the hotel, not much going on. The beach near Andrea's is the main local beach called Playa Los Muertos. It's fun and busy with water activities, rentals, vendors, food, etc. and frequented by tourists and Mexicans alike.

Andrea's is in the Olas Altas area of Zona Romantica or Old Town or the Southside (no one can seem to agree on a name for this fabulous district). Casa Magna is about 15 mins. north of town in The Marina (nearer the airport). You can walk to downtown from Andrea's but would need to take a taxi or bus from the Marriott.

So the long answer to your question you'd probably have a ball at either place, but I'm sure there are many other hotels that would make you happy too. Maybe folks who have traveled with their kids can chime in?

Hope this helps.

I've never seen any children at Casa Andrea and I know Andrea maintains a pretty "quiet" atmosphere there, especially in the evening. I would think kids would be bored there. There's a very small pool and it's about 2 blocks from the beach, which as Suze described is a very busy beach and popular with the locals.

Though I've not stayed at the Marriott, it seems to be a better situation for kids. Bigger property, bigger pool area. The beach is not that great, but just a quick bus ride north to Playa Destilideras puts you on one of the best beaches in the bay.

I think the Marriott is a much better choice for kids. I've stayed in both areas and with children, it's the Marriott hands down. Wonderful pool area for them to really swim in. Nice outdoor restaurant right by the pool area for very good food. It also serves pizza hut pan pizzas. Mexico or not, I know what picky eaters most kids can be. I stayed at the Marriott at the end of April a few years back. The hotel wasn't busy at all. I always had tons of choices of where I wanted to sit by the pool.
