Dreams or Marriott - reposting on Mexican topic

Message: We travel with an extended family of 15 during Christmas week - have spent the last 2 years at Iberostars elsewhere, but now looking at P.V. We like the AI because we're such a large group, but we're looking to be close to areas where we can walk around (how close are Dreams and Marriott to town? Can you walk around at night from either hotel - or walk to town from them?) How close to golf for either resort? Which would you recommend for families - kids range from 7 - 14?? We'd love to eat some meals in town, but the AI makes it so much easier in the meantime. I've read lots of the renovation horror stories of Dreams, but wondering whether anyone's been there lately? Are there enough kids around the Marriott?? Which would you choose? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

There's a huge and beautiful pool area at the Marriott. I'd think kids would love it. But I've not been down to Dreams so can't compare the two for you.

Hi just returned from the Marriott 2 weeks ago It is definitely the Best Hotel in P. Vallarta I have been to all the top hotels incl the Camino Real which is now Dreams. The Marriott is located at the Marina which has many restaurants and shops and it is a nice area to stroll after dinner. Of course you can take a taxi to town it's about $6-$8 American but you can spend the whole night walking around there. My friends were in P.V. for the 1st time and one night in Town was enough for them. Having been going for many yrs I highly recommend the Marriott the family will love it!!!! Great Pool Great Food and Great Service and the Rooms are much nicer than the ones we had at the Camino Real. You cannot walk from Dreams it is too dangerous it's on a Mountain Rd but only about a $3.00 cab ride from town. Dreams is a much better location but I would hands down recommend the Marriott!!! Go to trip advisor.com and read the reviews for both hotels before making a decision. Good Luck

Thanks Butsey. Were you there with kids? My 14 year old had a blast at the Iberostar in PDC last year meeting lots of other kids. Did they have activities for kids/teens?

No We didn't have any kids w/us just 3 couples There were families w/kids there I really didn't pay much attention but the Pool Area is unbelievable any kid and teen would love it also there is a special section for little ones w/a playground and kiddie pool!!! Honestly I have been going for many yrs and this is the best hotel you can ask for. The Golf course is within walking distance and so are the restaurants at the Marina. If you need any more info email [email protected]
