best places in Baja

hi there. I'm trying to plan a trip for my husbands 30th birthday next May. I guess I don't really understand the differences between going to Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas. It's one better than the other? Or is there any other place on the Baja Peninsula that people recommend? Thanks so much in advance.we are mainly looking for an all inclusive resort but I also like culture and towns and I know my husband would like to go deep sea fishing if possible.

I personally would go to La Paz the most Mexican city of Baja Sur.
Also for isolation & lovely beaches consider The East Cape. Another more Mexican place is Todos Santos.
If you must chose between Cabo & CSL I'd pick the later with out a minutes hesitation.

Los Cabos encompasses the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. San Jose is lower key, not as much of a party town. If you stay close to or in either CSL or San Jose, AI is n't necessary as there are plenty of great bars and restaurants. If you stay further out on what is called the "corridor" AI is more convenient. I have been a number of times to both SJ and CSL and have never done AI. These are the most touristy, party areas. Stew's recs are nice towns, more authentic, less touristy.

To elaborate on Michelle's comment, "Los Cabos" spreads out over about 30 miles, with Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo on either end and what's called "the Corridor" along Highway 1 between them.

I'm a big fan of Todos Santos. It's on the Pacific coast about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas.

As everyone's explaining "Los Cabos" meanas the larger area including the two cities and the tourist "Corridor" in between thtem. La Paz and Todos Santos are also good suggestions.

BUT the entire area was recently slammed horribly by a hurricane, there is extensive damage at this time. So you might want to hold off making plans until you see how soon they are able to put things back together in the area.

I surely hope so. For the sake of local people even more than the tourists. Although certainly both are important because tourism is the major revenue stream in that area.

I just know right now there's lots of Cabo folks who have changed their Oct & Nov trip from Cabo to Puerto Vallarta (from reading Trip Advisor forums).

TA has lots of up to date information about what is now opened and when other hotels, restaurants, etc will open. Unfortunately, the manager of the condo we are renting has not yet contacted us so we are not sure what the status is right now. The hotel on the same property as the condos is now opening on December 20th.
