Another Belize Wedding

Hi Everyone -

After several trips to Belize I want to get married there. The wedding is in summer 2008 and I am touring summer 2007 to pick a nicer location than I usually stay in. (I usually stay at Corona Del Mar...)

For the wedding we want a beach setting... I don't have a huge fortune to spend for the ceremony and dinner (not a full reception) but I figure it will cost 5-10K...

We will have a wedding party of 30 or so people who will be coming down at various times.

Common sense says Ambergris because it is easy to get to but I find it a bit busy... I have looked north of the cut at Journey's End because of their beach... They are nice but I hate being nickeled and dimed for everything.

I considered renting out Woody's and then finding a private island or just having the ceremony some place like Journey's... Thoughts?

I prefer something more remote and have been looking at Cocoplum for an option but they can only sleep about 25, not horrible we would just have to boat some folks from the main land.

I also looked at Jaguar Reef... They seem nice... South Water Caye is another option along with Robert's grove...

Just some thoughts and opinions would be nice...

I am not paying for rooms for guests, just the service and dinner...

Opinions and advice are wanted...

Joe

I have opinions on all the places you mention, because I've stayed at them or at least visited them in connection with doing the Fodor's guides and other guidebooks. BUT, I'd be reluctant to try to advise someone on a wedding location, since it's such a personal decision, except to say that several of the places that do this regularly, such as Victoria House, are really first rate at it.

Plenty of other options on Ambergris, VH is the best, look at Portofino or Mata Chica up north. Roberts Grove is great for Placenciam they have two small islands you could be married on. SWC has 3 small inns and plenty of space for your guests. Lots of good ideas.

I second the Inn at Robert's Grove and Mata Chica, and have stayed at both. Mata Chica is chic but a bit remote, while Robert's Grove is secluded but a short walk or drive to more in Placencia, a great little town. And as Katie said, their islands would really be beautiful for a ceremony.

Congratulations!

Hi Joe,

I would recommend you stay at Victoria House or Ramons Village. Also, you can hire services of a wedding coordinator like www.idoinbelize.com ( They are very nice and reasonable!) Victoria House and Ramons Village Have the perfect beach location for the ceremony.

read more about it....that will help.

I'm totally biased but I would recommend staying at Banyan Bay and having Dulce Wolfe coordinate your wedding. You won't regret either!
