Will anyone be in Paris on election night?

I am curious whether any other Fodorites will be in Paris during the American election returns. My sister and I will be there and will probably try to go to one of the expat watering holes-hopefully with a TV. And depending on the results-we will either have a celebration or work on consoling each other

Yikes, if Bush wins, better don maple leaf hats and keep a very low profile. Get used to your new attire - it would make for a loooong four plus years!!!

I will not be there on election night, but if all goes as scheduled, I will be in Paris during the inauguration. Like you, jpie, my evening will either be a celebration or a period of mourning. If Bush wins, I will do my best to disguise my Texas accent. I don't know if the French can distinguish that anyway, can they? Perhaps I should invest in a maple leaf hat.

If bush wins, I recommend just staying in Paris - heck, I'd stay in Paris if I were you anyway!

I usually resist political posts, but cannot let this pass:

As far as Chirac and his cronies are concerned, it doesn't matter who wins, as long as whoever wins has enough money to bribe them with. Saddam certainly set the precedent.

If Bush wins, we all are better off moving to France!

Hubby and I arrive in Paris Tuesday morning. I guess I should practice my Canadian accent as well as my essential french phrases. It will be interesting to see the French reaction, if any. We had not thought about commiserating with our fellow Americans. Would welcome any suggestions.

Hi richard-I was thinking harry's bar maybe-yes it will be very late when the polls close so we either have to find a club-or maybe delay to the next night and as perhaps go incognito

Regardless of who wins, why hide where you are from? Hold your head high and be a proud but polite American.

I cannot speak for everyone, but what I said about hiding my accent and buying a maple leaf hat was a joke. I have no intention of doing either of those things. Geez, must everything be taken so seriously?

I'm proud to be an American no matter who wins.
