Will anyone be in Paris on election night?
I am curious whether any other Fodorites will be in Paris during the American election returns. My sister and I will be there and will probably try to go to one of the expat watering holes-hopefully with a TV. And depending on the results-we will either have a celebration or work on consoling each other

I will not be there on election night, but if all goes as scheduled, I will be in Paris during the inauguration. Like you, jpie, my evening will either be a celebration or a period of mourning. If Bush wins, I will do my best to disguise my Texas accent. I don't know if the French can distinguish that anyway, can they? Perhaps I should invest in a maple leaf hat.

I usually resist political posts, but cannot let this pass:
As far as Chirac and his cronies are concerned, it doesn't matter who wins, as long as whoever wins has enough money to bribe them with. Saddam certainly set the precedent.

Hubby and I arrive in Paris Tuesday morning. I guess I should practice my Canadian accent as well as my essential french phrases. It will be interesting to see the French reaction, if any. We had not thought about commiserating with our fellow Americans. Would welcome any suggestions.
