Weather in Turkey mid Sept versus October
We are planning to visit Turkey for about two weeks in the Fall. Does the timing really mater? We will spend about a week in Istanbul and then go elsewhere close by. Any advantages or disadvantages of going earlier than later? thanks!

October will be slightly cooler but precipitation possibility will be the same.
Sea water will be nice and warm.
The big difference will be in length of daylight.
Another difference will be the night life starting to move from the Ortakoy-Bebek stretch on the Bosphorus to Nisantasi for the upscale and Beyoglu for the middle classes.
Sultanahmet will be the same in Istanbul, tourists and touristy shops and touristy restaurants serving touristy food.
The nights at Cappadocia will be getting cooler in October and requiring wind breakers or cardigans.
Ephesus and other ruins will be easier to walk/hike in Octber due to cooler and less humid temperatures.

We were in Istanbul 2 years ago for 5 days at the beginning of October, followed by 4 weeks based in Kas (with a 4-day road trip from there mid-month to Cappadocia), stopping back in Istanbul at the end of October before flying on to Vietnam. October was REALLY nice--the Med was still warm enough to swim in, kayak on, etc. Ephesus in early October was perfect. Cappadocia was cool but beautiful during the day, quite cool at night, and nippy on our early morning balloon ride. Istanbul at the end of October was significantly cooler than at the beginning of the month--damp and grayer as well. I would definitely return in October, given the chance.
