Monte Berico, Padua, Verona...you are in the middle of a wonderful and often over-looked area full of good places to explore in Veneto. Everybody is so overwhelmed by Venice they often don't take the time to see the rest of this fascinating area-have a wonderful time!I hope you have a car, though most of the places above are largely available by train.

Asolo, Castelfranco, Bassano del Grappa, Citadella are also wonderful destinations. We were in Italy for two weeks last September and never left the Veneto.

Since you are staying in Vicena, I am hoping you are big Palladio fans. Don't miss the Teatro Olympico. There are also several Palladio villas in the area open for tours. The Villa Cornaro is Piombino Dese and is open on Saturday.

Oh, you're really very lucky to stay in this sweet area of Veneto in a so very good season as spring is.
The first day trip, let me tell you in this way, should be . . . . the center of Vicenza and enjoy its main square and every treasure of Palladio.
Then, besides the tips you already received, I suggest you also Cornedo Vicentinoo, Lumignano and Marostica, hoping you have a car.
In Cornedo Vicentino I suggest to have lunch at DUE PLATANI.
Do not miss a day trip to Altopiano di Asiago, wonderful in that season because the farmers are going to open their summer farms on the mountains to begin to make one of the best Italian cheese: Asiago DOP.

Have a lovely trip, ciao.

Vincenzo
