VENICE, TUSCANY & PIEDMONT
Hello everyone...I am a newcomer to this forum...I am travelling into to Europe for only 3 weeks on Sept 1st...landing in Munich (renting a car for the entire duration of the trip) which we have not booked yet...looking into "CARRENTAL4ALL.COM. From Munich to Bolzano and then into Venice which we would like to take a 1 day tour. On our itinerary there is also Tuscany.... We are then travelling up to Piemonte then into the south of France...all in 3 weeks...does anyone have any suggestions or tips? or suggest "MUST" see places there are 2 adults and an 18 yeear old daughter travelling together. I do appreciate any advice...

How long will you be in Munich? The drive from Bolzano to Venice is astounding. Think of big craggy mountains and snow, then mystical watery Venice. It is visual overload (and one of my best memories!) Will you be staying in Venice for a couple days? One day is hardly enough. How long in Tuscany?
I think you should forget about the South of France for this trip...Unless maybe you are flying back from Nice?
You might find it more enjoyable to visit Verona and Lake Garda after Venice, maybe Bologna and on to Tuscany.
I've no experience with your car rental company. We've used AuroEurope with the best results on previous trips.

Hi, zeza...
From the looks of your itinerary, you will be quite packed in with alot of road time.
Some questions: do you need to end up back in Munich? Is Munich laid in stone? Because it is certainly the furthest out of the way on this trip. From Munich to Bozen (Bolzano) is a hefty, albeit beautiful trip but in reality, you are spreading yourself very thin and putting alot of stress on yourselves by doing it.
If you were instead to land in Venice, stay for a few day, take the drive then down to Tuscany....
Ok, you must think about what you would like to see in Tuscany. Do you just want to visit Florence? Siena? The Chianti? South Tuscany? The Maremma (coastline)? These mean different things to different people. Are you museum/city touring people, or do you lean more towards relaxing in the country?
Piemonte...well, this is my home, and September is the perfect time to be here, with the vendemmia (harvest). Do you enjoy wine and food? Because that is really what this area is all about. You could take a full week just to tour the tiny villages, wineries, and then make your way to the main cities of Alba, Asti, Torino, Acqui Terme (my home).
South of France is a hop from Piemonte, approx 5 hours to Aix, Bonnieux, Avignon. I would stay closer to Aix in that time of year. Of course I would cut out France altogether and focus on Venice, Tuscany and Piemonte... a wonderful vacation, with more time actually spent on vacation and less time getting from place to place.
Autoeurope is really good. Our guests have had the best results. Just make sure that if you are flying open jaw, that you know what the drop off charges are going to be up front.

thank you for the info...we must return to Munich as that is where we fly into and out of. we will be staying in Bolzano for 3 days..at a bed and breakfast at Lago di Monticolo...planning on 2-3 day trips to Venice. Tuscany will be 4 days, and Piedmonte/France will be probably 4-5 days. We have someone who is letting us borrow his apartment which is only 40 km from France..that is why we thought of going there to visit a few days. What is the time frame for driving from Munich to Bolzano?
