Using Priceline With Special Requests for London
I am looking for a hotel in the Victoria Station area of London for next May. In checking out Priceline, I did not see the Victoria Station area as a choice. Did I miss something? Also, is it possible to request a hotel with an elevator or a ground floor room? Is it too early to try Priceline for May 2006? Several questions here....thanks !

The Westminster area includes Victoria Station, but may be too large if you only want the station area. Any 4* hotel is sure to have an elevator.
Note the following from Priceline's help, which may be applicable in your case:
Can I get a handicapped-accessible room?
If you have special needs (e.g., wheelchair accessible room) you must call the hotel and verify that special needs can be met. Most hotels will be glad to accommodate you if rooms are available. Your hotel reservation will be refunded, canceled or modified if the particular hotel cannot meet special needs.
If your hotel does not have a handicapped accessible room available, please send us an e-mail.

Thank you. This is our 1st trip to London, so wanted to be within close proximity to all of the main tourist sites (Buckingham Palace, etc). Perhaps the Westminster area would do that, what do you think? How early can you start bidding for a room?

You could start bidding now, but I would recommend being conservative, because many hotels do not release inventory until later. I think your best choice for convenience and comfort would be a 4* hotel in Mayfair. The Westminster zone includes hotels south of the river, which might not be ideal for a first-time tourist. You have probably already read this advice, but check out www.betterbidding.com and www.biddingfortravel.com .

I don't think you would need to limit yourself to the Victoria area to be within easy access to the tourist sites. With the excellent public transportation in London, as long as a hotel is close to a tube station or good bus route, you can get to any of the tourist sites.
As long as you stayed in the Victoria, Westminster, Mayfair, Kensington, Bloomsbury areas you should be fine.
